New Stuff Eco Design bikes
The Atwood The Belleville Inspired by the okala method, trek designers set out to create the internal standards that would serve as the architecture for creating a Eco Design product. Mirroring Cradle to Cradle or the Okala method in examination of the entire lifecycle, a product must meet a certain amount of criteria before it is given the Eco design distinction. This will help to ensure the intergrity of the Eco Design line as well as offer transparency as to what the process is. The Bikes have steel frame (to extract steel from the earth is far less impactful than other metals), eco saddle and grips. Tires are made from 100% natural rubber that is certified sustainable harvested. The bike is designed for Disassembly so that at its end of life it can be 100% recycled and there are no toxins are in any of the materials.
